DECEMBER 2023

Welcome to Sean Parry Hypnotherapy. This privacy policy is designed to inform you about how I responsibly use and safeguard the information you provide while using my services or accessing my website. It is my pledge to ensure your data remains secure, is managed with respect, and is only used for its intended purposes.

This policy is periodically updated to reflect current legislation. Upon contacting me via my website, phone, or email, the following details are collected:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Telephone number

  • Any other information you give regarding your enquiry

Use of your information

The primary use of this information is to facilitate communication with you, addressing your requirements. It also aids in enhancing the services I offer.

Upon opting for an appointment, I will provide a copy of this Privacy Policy in advance to clarify how your information will be used in our sessions.

Your preferences and essential details

During our initial appointment, I offer the choice to opt-in for future communications regarding promotional information or general wellbeing advice. Absence of your consent ensures you will not be contacted for these purposes.

Your GP’s contact details and certain basic health information may be requested. This is to ascertain suitability for hypnotherapy and, in some cases, enable communication with your GP before therapy begins.

Emergencies may require the use of next-of-kin details, which are used strictly for such circumstances.

Please note, withholding consent for information collection may limit our ability to work together.

In our sessions

For therapy purposes, your email address and/or mobile phone number are used for sending recordings and arranging appointments.

Session notes are taken to plan and customise therapy sessions, including the creation of scripts for use within and between sessions. These notes are anonymised and securely stored in a password-protected file, for my use only.

Following health sector standards, these notes are retained for up to 7 years post-therapy, after which they are securely destroyed.

You are entitled to view these notes; requests should be made directly to me.

Your rights under GDPR

Under the General Data Protection Regulations effective from May 2018, you have several rights:

  • The right to be informed (as demonstrated by this policy).

  • The right of access (requests for file viewing are addressed within 30 days).

  • The right to rectification (correction of any factual inaccuracies).

  • The right to erasure (with the stipulation of a 7-year retention period).

  • The right to restrict processing (information is used solely as stated).

  • The right to data portability (not typically applicable in this context).

  • The right to object (no marketing contact without explicit consent).

  • The right not to be subject to automated decision-making, including profiling (I do not engage in profiling using your information).
